TAKIN’ IT BACK THURSDAY: “The Party Machine with Nia Peeples”

Dick Clark. Don Cornelius. Nia Peeples? The name doesn’t ring, but she was destined for that road. In 1991, Arsenio Hall was on top of the world with a highly successful late night talk show and his Arsenio Hall Communications production company and decided he wanted to venture into dance television. At this time, Club MTV and Soul Train still existed but Arsenio wanted to do dance television with a twist… late night. Yep, after The Arsenio Hall Show signed off, Arsenio Hall commissioned Nia Peeples to host The Party Machine with Nia Peeples as a late night after party companion to Hall’s show. The Party Machine was structured as a club that featured live music, multi-level dance floors, conversation pits, a VIP room, a non-alcoholic bar and a resident DJ. Music videos were introduced by Peeples, who also served as a dancer/choreographer. Well, not too many people were into staying up late after the Arsenio Hall Show to dance and the show was cancelled after an eight month stint. Check out a brief sample of what the Party Machine was.
