The nominations are in for this year’s upcoming MTV VMA Awards show, which include two artists closely familiar with each other – Drake and Rihanna.

The pair get nods from MTV for Video of the Year on their collaborative effort, “Take Care”, as well as Rihanna’s solo hit single, “We Found Love”.  She also received a nomination for Best Female Video & Best Pop Video; while Drizzy landed two major noms, Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Male Video.

Other announcements included Beyonce, Jay & Kanye, Frank Ocean, and M.I.A. who all received three nominations, respectively.  Ocean landed a Best New Artist nomination and Best Male Video for “Swim Good”.  The only performers revealed so far include four-time VMA winner Alicia Keys, and British/Irish pop-band, One Direction.

Be sure to catch this year’s VMA show – as it will be televised live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 8th, 8pm E.S.T. (instead of traditionally being held on Sunday).
