Katherine Jackson was temporarily stripped of her guardianship over Micheal Jackson’s three children Wednesday by a Los Angeles judge, TMZ reports. Michael’s nephew, T.J. Jackson, has been named the temporary guardian of Paris, Prince and Michael Jr. Jackson.
“I am devastated that while I’ve been away, my grandchildren have been taken away from me, and I’m coming home,” Katherine told ABC News late Wednesday. “There are rumors going around about me that I have been kidnapped,” she said. “I am here today to let everybody to know that I am good and fine. My children would never do anything to me like that.”
Los Angeles Judge also advised T.J. and his lawyer, Charles Shultz, to seek a permanent guardianship after claims that Katherine, 82, may have been held against her will “from third parties.” Shultz told the judge Wednesday that T.J. received a strange phone call from Katherine and T.J. said he had “never heard my grandmother talk like that.”
Katherine has been the children’s guardian since Michael died in June 2009. However, Katherine was reported missing Sunday when she hadn’t contacted her grandchildren for a week. She later told ABC News she was at a spa for a “short vacation and rest,” and said she hadn’t called her grandchildren because she gave up her phone. “I didn’t want to have any phone calls while I was here.”
Katherine’s lawyer, says that when Katherine returns to Los Angeles, he will file a motion to reinstate her as guardian.
